She didn’t trust anyone, avoided all contact, and reacted unpredictably to even the gentlest approach. The shelter was overwhelming, and for a long time, Orion shut down—too scared to play, too nervous to explore, and unsure whether she was truly safe.
But over time, with patience, consistency, and compassion, Orion has begun to bloom. Today, she’s a much different cat than the one who first walked through our doors. While still shy and cautious, she’s shown us just how sweet and affectionate she can be—on her own terms. She’s even started to play, explore her space, and seek out quiet companionship when she’s feeling comfortable.

While in our care, we also discovered a lump on the back of his neck that was removed successfully. On top of all that, BoBo tested positive for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus).
FIV is a condition that can weaken a cat’s immune system, but with regular vet care, a safe indoor home, and plenty of love, FIV+ cats can live long, happy, and healthy lives. It does not spread to people or dogs, and is only passed to other cats through deep bite wounds.
Through every challenge, BoBo never stopped showing his sweet, gentle spirit. He recovered beautifully from his wounds and surgery, and now he’s thriving. Around here, you can often find him curled up with staff and volunteers, soaking up snuggles and melting hearts.
